Part Two of the Coastal Route

Cali Coastal Road Trip 2015 from Cat Nicol on Vimeo.

This journey continues further south exploring more of the coastline of Highway 1 of what California has to offer. Passing by more beach towns, seaside resorts and boardwalks like Santa Barbara and casually stopping for an occasional swim every now and then in the most beautiful spots along the way like Pfeiffer Beach in Big Sur. Managing to get some sweet waves surfing in Malibu and skating down the main streets of Santa Monica and Venice Beach, we were living life to the max.

I had the company of my family who came out to visit to the States and joined in parts of the road trip. The road is your home and living out of a van for majority of the trip was an awesome experience. I could definitely get used to that lifestyle that’s for sure.

We stuck to having the basic essentials for living on the road such as:

  • Rope – came in handy for drying clothes
  • Tapestry
  • Skateboards
  • Grill and Propane cans
  • Food bins and Cooking utensils
  • Sleeping bags and pads
  • Tent
  • Backpacks
  • Cooler – for food storage… and beer, of course

Let us take you on our journey through the magical places we discovered more along the coastal route.

cat17We managed to see what we wanted and tick each place off the list. California has been by far the most unreal place we’ve travelled, from being up in the mountains to passing vast areas of the countryside to spending times along the coastal route it has been a sense of place and a journey that I will always cherish. California keep it real!!
