It was October 13th and Breckenridge, CO had claimed 9 fresh inches on the mountain. I couldn’t resist. My older sister, Leanne, had texted me the night before to set my alarm for 7am: we would be venturing up Peak 10 first thing. Stout Dog joined us on his first shred adventure and was leading the pack bounding up the mountain and breaking trail.

When we reached the peak none of us wasted any time in strapping in and eyeing what lines were available. Mostly because there were baby trees, fallen logs and rocks just waiting to scoop you off your board underneath that white blanket. We would shred down our own spots then regroup and reevaluate. There were a lot of slashes that were littered with dirt and rocks, but then you would hit the perfect pocket of floaty powder. It was worth every ding in my board. Can’t wait for the rest of the winter to come!
