“In March of 2014 six women set sail from Isafjordur, Iceland with the intention of sailing across the Denmark Strait and up the west coast of Greenland. They hoped to explore the remote coastline, pioneer new ski descents, and collect scientific data in some of the most incredible wilderness on earth. This is their story.”

One last big adventure before settling down with the kids. This was Meghan Kelly’s goal. So, next was to find a destination and a solid crew. Both were easy to gather, but the adventure that was set out before them would be anything but easy. Pip Hunt, KT Miller, Nat Segal, Martha Hunt and Mckenna Peterson booked their flights along with Meghan to Iceland, touring up the remote mountain peaks and skiing down some hard and steep faces. This is where they began to make their first descents. A claim few have done and even fewer women.
Next was Greenland. Though, taking the two hour plane ride had too much simplicity for the girls. A sailboat was hired and a route was formed. Seasickness was not absent on their multi-day journey, but the women persevered through all the storms and waves and were ready to get some of that Greenland powder with some more first descents.
This is where they start to get into the science. It takes a lot of understanding when it comes to our climate and what we can do to save it. And saving it is essential if you want to continue pursuing the sport you love, snowboarding.
These girls are inspirational and determined. What an amazing adventure to not just experience, but endure. Who’s going next?
