DECISION MAKING IN AVALANCHE TERRAIN
The AIARE 1 is an introduction to avalanche hazard management. Students can expect to develop a good grounding in how to prepare for and carry out a backcountry trip, to understand basic decision making while in the field, and to learn rescue techniques required to find and dig out a buried person (if an avalanche occurs and someone in the party is caught).

AIARE Avalanche Rescue is a one-day stand alone course that is intended to be retaken on a regular basis in order to keep abreast of best practices in rescue techniques and gear. At VNTRbirds, we’re focused on creating good vibes out on the slope. We think friends on a powder day makes it even better. We love bringing liked minded women together to ride, cheer each other on, and continue to build up our outdoor community. Whether you’re splitboarding, AT skiing, snowmobiling, etc. get the proper knowledge to help you move through the backcountry safely, efficiently and confidently. VNTRbirds tailored this Backcountry Basics course for women who are new in the backcountry. This course on Purgatory Resort is also a great fit for those thinking they are not in "backcountry shape" yet. We will take the lift up and then tour in the backcountry from the top instead of having to start from the bottom. Lift ticket is included with the course.
