When you live in the mountains, especially the Rocky Mountains, summer isn’t just full of hiking and climbing. There are three key letters that consume the warmer months and releases a wild side.
MTB
That’s right, mountain biking. Specifically in Breckenridge, Colorado, the MTB scene is large. We have hundreds of miles of single track that is cared for and shredded all season long. Whether you’re taking bus laps to rip a few descents, crossing through the steep uphill terrain or just getting a quick cruise in while on your way to work, Breck has the variety.
Now, we just need the right crew. VNTRbirds went on a search to find a great MTB girl gang. Teaming up with Rocky Mountain Underground (RMU to save time) we were out to accomplish a tight women’s community in mountain biking.
BABES ON BIKES
Rounding up some women of all ages and abilities, we met every third Wednesday of the month from July through September for Babes on Bikes. Each ride was in a new location setting out from the RMU Beer Garden. The instant bonds women create in the outdoors is awe-inspiring and new ones happened with each outing. There wasn’t any competition or self-doubt, but there was plenty of cheers, advice giving, laughter and importantly, new confidence to get out on your bike and ride!
The fun didn’t stop after the ride, we continued the party at RMU with a VNTRbirds keg, live music and a killer raffle. All proceeds of the VNTRbirds events go towards women’s backcountry education. Subscribe to receive the VNTRbirds newsletter for more ride days and event signups.
