Avalanche Refresher Course – Summit County

January 18, 2025

This is a new course offered by VNTRbirds, designed as a review or update for those with prior avalanche education. We highly recommend that participants have Level 1 training or higher before attending. Focusing on refreshing and enhancing your knowledge. The goal of this avalanche refresher is to bring up to date the skills you’ve learned in previous courses.

You’ll get the opportunity to refine crucial skills for backcountry travel with your touring partners. This is a fantastic opportunity to enhance your avalanche knowledge and gear up for winter adventures! We’ll explore hazard assessment and dive into discussions about snowpack, terrain, and group management techniques.

This is a women specific course. We always welcome femme, transgender and gender non-conforming people who are comfortable in a femme-centered space.

Open to both skiers and splitboarders. You should be confident on blues and blacks ungroomed terrain on the resort. You must be able to efficiently travel on snow on your backcountry equipment. You need to have proper backcountry safety equipment including TRANSCEIVER, SHOVEL, PROBE, BACKPACK.
